Really good! well done on the pictures as well! There's a podcast on the lancet website about evidence from phase-2 trials of a glucagon-like peptide-1 drug that has been shown to work in obesity (higher does from its use in diabetes) - i think. Might be of interest for your GLP-1 section. Rachael Kirkbride 12:49, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

You mentioned that bariatric surgery increases energy metabolism but i wasn't sure how it does this? 'Emily Moore 19:30, 29 October 2009 (UTC)'
Really good! Loved the pictures, they really clarify exactly how each different type of surgery works.  You could link your article to the one on gut-brain signalling as you mention many of the same hormones. Amelia Sheldon 15:34, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
Excellent. Visual aids are key, and it's well written and organised! Neil R. J. Watson 15:55, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
Well done, the pictures and sub-titles break the text up nicely so you're not swamped with blocks of text. Andrew Critchley 16:44, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
Really good article.  Like the fact you have plenty of pictures.  The only thing I would say is that the first section seems to be a huge title followed by a sentence of text.  Perhaps the titles don't need to be quite as big, as it kind of distrupts the flow of the article.  Maybe you could try to use subheadings in the last section to break up the text?  A really good article. Lowri Phillips 12:09, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Great article and an intersting read..the pictures are amazing!Juliet Carmichael 16:47, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
I agree with everyone else, really nice pictures! and the text is interesting too! Was a good read. Graeme Daniel Logue 13:16, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
Great use of subheadings and diagrams.. the only small point i can think of is that the labels on your diagrams are really small, especially on figure 1. If you can find a way of increasing the font size your article will be amazing! Rachael White 16:26, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
This is really well presented.  Good headings/subheading and clearly written.  The diagrams are really good too. Rachael Hutt 18:31, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

really good. Maybe anything constructive would be - lack of references?

Brilliant diagrams! There are a couple of spelling mistakes, but it's very well written.Sarah Smith 21:08, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
Ok guys, so i've corrected all the spelling mistakes (hopefully), changed a couple things here and there and added a small section on the efficacy of surgery. Hope that its ok? And is ok where i've put it? I didn't know whether to put it with the 'as opposed to diet' part? Also, i can't seem to figure out how to change the contents bit to include it..? On another point I think the referencing is a little confusing. Would it maybe be easier if we don't use numbers, just authors and date and alphabetically list references at the bottom? Claire Dickie 17:36, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
Scrap that about the contents list, it obviously does it automatically. Claire Dickie 17:38, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
Also, I've kind of written a conclusion, but think it might just unnecessarily repeat what is in the article..? And I think we're pretty much at the word limit anyway? However, I could try a brief 'main summary points' thing? Claire Dickie 17:45, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
Well done for the diagrams! A good amount of information too. It seems that you enjoyed writing it and your team works really nice together. Stefanie Maroudi Manta 11:56, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
Well done! I really like your article. It's clear and reads well. You've done a good job! But keep consistency in the references format and develop a bit more the conclusion, Claire's suggestion of the 'main summary points' sounds good.Celine Caquineau 15:20, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
I found your parallels with the gut-brain signalling article really helpful when integrating different aspects of appetite regulation. The figures were really useful also in helping to understand the different types of surgeries. A short summary would have been helpful to tie everything together. Also, you mentioned adipose- brain signalling hormones being affected at the beginning but didn't explore this? Katie Gallagher 19:36, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

Good diagrams, good literature search and selection, but text a bit woolly and confused in places. Omissions - effects of gastric surgery on vagal signalling? risks of gastric surgery? Adverse effects of gastric surgery on mood have been reported recently. Needed a brief summary of functionally different roles of stomach, duodenum etc.Gareth Leng 13:58, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

# Move the section about comparison to diet to within the efficacy section

Ok I just made some titles as an example to get us going. Not sure at all yet, but I’m going to think about it. Feel free to change anything I did, I just did it to get us started! I defiantly think the GUT hormones are the most important aspect of this project. Shane McSweeney 16:01, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

Good start! keep an eye at the gut-brain signalling article to link it with yours. Celine Caquineau 09:38, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Hey shane, i added and re-arranged a few of your titles based on a few notes i took during our meeting the other day - hope you don't mind! feel free to change it back if you don't really agree... Also, i'm going to get started with the images - i was thinking, would you rather it be drawn on a computer, or would you like me to draw it by hand then scan it and upload it as a jpeg? I don't really mind doing it either way!Amira Mahmoud

Whatever is easier for you! Shane McSweeney 13:40, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

Ok i drew the pictures by hand but added labels and arrows via the computer so it's a bit of both. I drew images of: gastric banding, roux-en-Y, and sleeve gastrectomy withd duod switch - however, i've tried adding them on to the page and it doesn't seem to work. the links are there but the pictures don't want to upload... i've double checked the format, size, etc. and it all seems right. Any ideas?Amira Mahmoud

Did you try the upload wizard? Im sure we will work it out! Well done for the drawings! Shane McSweeney 09:40, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

Yup - I tried the upload wizard but that doesn't work either :S Anyway, i'll try and sort it out again. I drew 3 images - roux-en-y, gastric banding, and sleeve gastrectomy with duodenum switch. Anything else I can draw? Perhaps different hormones being released from different areas from the gut? And shane AMAZING job putting stuff up!!Amira Mahmoud

Dunno why its not working i tried and it works fine. Just a normal jpeg saved from paint, dunno. Shane McSweeney 11:31, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

fantastic work Amira!!! pics are really good. Enjoy the rest of lazy sunday!!! Shane McSweeney 12:18, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

Good going; I've shown you how can insert references. You seem to be having trouble uploading what sound to be good images? I've signed your messages above for you Amira, do remember to sign yourself using four tildes, it makes it easier for me to see who's doing what. Gareth Leng 16:29, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

Well done Amira! I see that Geraldine and Claire have been adding to the Bibliography - good to ssee you working together. Nancy Sabatier 19:19, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

Shane, I just had a look and the images seem to be up ok. Thank you Dr. Leng! I finally managed to upload the images and I'll keep in mind that I need to sign my messages. Do you think the images are too large and the font size is too small? I'll try and re-adjust it so it doesn't take too much space but that the writing is still visible. And thanks guys for the compliments - I'm glad you like the images :) Amira Mahmoud

Really nice work, im impressed with the pics!Celine Caquineau 15:03, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

Hey guys, great start, it's looking good so far (again, nice pics Amira!). I've a few deadline this week, but just wanted to let you know I will definitely start contributing soon! Claire Dickie 19:21, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

Overall, nice work Shane and Amira! Im looking forward to see Claire and Geraldine's contributions!Celine Caquineau 14:32, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Hey you guys, hope you've had a good weekend!! I've just been adding a few sections to 'surgery as opposed to diet' as i think that should be our main focus. Also, I had a look on the gut-brain signalling page but at the time they hadn't seemed to have anything up - so if we can keep an eye on that perhaps we can link our section to there's for more detail on the hormones? Amira Mahmoud

Your article so far: Well done! Clearly you've been doing loads of work. Your team seems to work well together with everybody contributing equally and keeping in touch with each other.

Your plan is well organised and structured, you cover all the main points in specific parts, and I agree with Amira, the section on 'surgery as opposed to diet' should be your main focus. Good start with the intro too and good use of figures with explicative legend. Your article reads well, a bit too much 'studies show, has been shown ...' sometimes. The only thing I would like you to do is to make sure that every studies or facts you mention are referenced in the text as well as in the References section following the citizendium references format. The bibliography page should also be updated regularly.

Im looking forward to see how your article will develop, I think linking your article with the Gut-Brain one is a really good idea too. Nice work overall!!Celine Caquineau 10:57, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

There's a podcast on the lancet website about evidence from phase-2 trials of a glucagon-like peptide-1 drug that has been shown to work in obesity (higher does from its use in diabetes) - i think.
