Council for the National Interest

The Council for the National Interest (CNI) is a [[501(c)(4) nonprofit [[interest group that lobbies in favor of U.S. policies toward the [[State of Israel, which are based on U.S. interests, as well as U.S. values. It is paired with the Council for the National Interest Foundation (CNIF), [[501(c)(3) non-profit organization "that provides information and analysis on the Middle East, its relationship to the United States, and about policy formation regarding this region. Its primary focus is on Israel-Palestine...It is CNI’s goal to restore a political environment in America in which voters and their elected officials are free from the undue influence and pressure of foreign countries and their partisans." Former Ambassadors [[Robert Keeley and [[David Newton, respectively, are Chair and Vice Chair. Former Reps. [[Paul Findlay and [[Pete McCloskey founded the Council. In October 2010, [[Abraham Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League, called it a group that has an important role "in creating policy and setting anti-Israel agendas but do[es] not organize a significant number of events."[ References
