Morton Abramowitz is a Senior Fellow at the [[Century Foundation, and on the boards of the [[International Rescue Committee, the [[International Crisis Group, and [[U.S. Committee for Human Rights in North Korea, as well as advising the [[National Interest quarterly journal and [[Foreign Policy (magazine). He is a signatory of the "Beyond Guantanamo" declaration. A long-term diplomat, he was the president of the [[Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and acting president of the [[International Crisis Group. At the [[U.S. Department of State, he was [[U.S. Ambassador to Turkey and [[U.S. Ambassador to Thailand|Thailand, [[Bureau of Intelligence and Research|Assistant Secretary of State for Intelligence and Research, United States ambassador to the [[Mutual and Balanced Force Reduction Negotiations in Vienna and political adviser to the commander of [[United States Pacific Command. He was also deputy assistant secretary of defense for inter-American, East Asian, and Pacific affairs. |
